Junk Pockets $50, Riley Scores Big and Loses

Riley's 140 points couldn't beat Wade's running backs.

Published September 15, 2026

There's an old saying in fantasy football: it's not the draft position that beats you, it's what you do with it. Spencer had an extra first-round pick this year. Riley had one too. Both managers walked into Week 1 with more ammunition than everyone else in the room, and both of them lost. Spencer scored 102.96. Riley scored 140.56. Combined they went 0-2, and the league is already victory lapping.

Start with Spencer, because the specific cruelty here deserves documentation. Kenneth Walker went for 37.60 points in the flex. That's the good news. Colston Loveland — the tight end keeper Spencer touted could be the TE1 — returned exactly 0.00 points. Jaylen Waddle produced 0.70. What matters the most is when the extra draft capital you deployed on Omarion Hampton (8.30) was sitting in the same backfield as Derrick Henry — who scored 39.80 for someone else. Week 1 is early. But the receipts are already printing.

Riley's situation is somehow more painful because he was right there. Josh Allen put up 40.66, and he's the one with Derrick Henry's 39.80. Two of the best scores at their positions in the entire league, and Riley still lost. Why? Riley didn't lose because he was bad. Riley lost because Wade was better. He ran out Jahmyr Gibbs (36.10) and David Montgomery (27.40) together and made sure the punishment was complete.

The week's most comfortable winner was Junk, who posted 170.96 — the high score of the week — and walked away with both $25 prizes. D'Andre Swift put up 36.90 (third-best RB in the league this week), Amon-Ra St. Brown added 23.70, and Junk's coach grade came in at 99.77 percent of optimal, with just 0.40 left on the bench. Scott had Lamar Jackson (28.96), Bijan Robinson (27.30), and Breece Hall (23.80) and still lost by 49.80, which is the kind of thing that happens when Junk beats your WRs 37.20 to 8.90 and your 10th round kicker KEEPER contributes 2.00 points.

This is the highest-scoring meeting in the Junk–Scott series. The bar has been raised. Scott may not have wanted that.

Emmo was the week's other clean winner, posting 148.20 with a perfect 100.00 coach grade — every available point on the field, none left sitting. Christian Watson was the best wide receiver in the entire league this week at 32.70. Tony countered with Caleb Williams going for 39.26 at quarterback, which was the best QB score of the week by a significant margin, but Kyle Pitts Sr. returned 0.00 points at tight end and Harrison Mevis chipped in 1.00 at kicker. Tony lost the RB battle, the WR battle, the TE battle, the kicker battle, and the defense battle. He won the QB battle emphatically and it didn't matter.

Andy handled Spencer without much drama, 151.32–102.96, with Justin Jefferson (27.20) and Jaxon Smith-Njigba (25.20) doing the heavy lifting. Andy has now won four straight in this series.

The closest game of the week came down to 3.00 points: Joel over Brandon, 105.40–102.40. Joel had DJ Moore scoring 21.50 on the bench while A.J. Brown started for 4.10 — a 17.40-point miss that nearly cost him the game. Brandon, meanwhile, left Chuba Hubbard (22.20) on the bench. Both coaches left enough points sitting to flip the result three times over. Joel won because his kicker (Tyler Loop, 15.20) and his tight end (Isaiah Likely, 23.80) quietly carried the day. Joel would like you to know he's 1-0. The Ryder Cup remains a separate matter.

Landon beat Billy 110.22–71.06 behind Ashton Jeanty's 34.70 in the flex. Billy started Courtland Sutton for 2.10 while Denzel Boston put up 12.90 on the bench, and Patrick Mahomes scored 23.66 for no one on Billy's roster. It was that kind of day.

Week 2: Spencer gets Emmo, who just posted a perfect lineup. The receipts keep printing.
